Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine

-despite the scans that showed significant brain damage. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?

Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?

For fans of best-sellers like Before I Fall and If I Stay, this is a fascinating and heart-rending story about love and friendship and the fine line between life and death.~Goodreads

I was lucky enough to get a copy of Fracture from Looksie Lovitz a couple of months ago and it was nude. BAHA! Sorry, I mean it didn’t have a cover, but I just wanted to make a naked joke! heehee annnnyway, I read the book and then saw the cover at ALA and was in awe! I think it fits the story so perfectly and I love it!!

But i had a hard time coming up with what to say about this book. When I first finished it, not only was I a little freaked out, I was totally confused as to why I couldn’t come up with how I felt about it. Was it good? Bad? Okay? Great? I wasn’t completely sure at the time.

Fracture is a big pile of crazy, and when I wanted to put it down, there was this pull that kept me reading chapter after chapter. The characters in this book were most definitely likeable and the mystery was frightening! I was thinking about the story for days after I finished it. And that’s how I knew it was pretty amazing. My mind kept going back to the little plot elements and dialogue between characters.

I liked Delaney a lot but it was hard for me to read about her “issues” because they creeped me out! And her journey was just really, really sad & tough & honestly, alarming! But there were plenty of humorous lines that added comic relief to the story:
“You stole my car.”

“Stop calling it a car, it’s a minivan. You’re in denial.”

The little banter above is between Delaney and her best friend, Decker. Ah, Decker....He was super cute, extremely funny but totally stupid! He was so completely blind towards Delaney and his relationship that i wanted to smack him! He had feelings for her but wouldn't act on them and boooooyyyy was I ever rooting for them to just be together!! GAH!!

And speaking of relationships, the story had a some back and forth in the romance department (caught between two guys sorta thing…but not a triangle…gah! Read it to find out what I mean!) And oh my gosh when you meet Troy...zeeep! <-- i'll let you speculate if that's a good "zeep" or a bad "zeep" or a creep "zeep."

But ultimately this book isn’t focused on romance, it’s about life and second chances, and Delaney’s question of “If you had one day left to live, how would you spend it.” (Personally, I would go to my local Chipotle, make out with the hot guy that works there and then scarf down like 2 burritos. After that i'd probably go take a nap at B&N....yeah, that's my dream day!)

Ehem, moving on...check this book out, it’s a great debut by Megan Miranda! It’s dark and twisted with characters that are deeply flawed, emotionally & physiologically but you’ll love ‘em anyway. If you like eerie/creepy/thriller books this one is definitely for you!
