Vanish by Sophie Jordan

Vanish (Firelight, #2)Vanish (Firelight #2)
Author: Sophie Jordan
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pages: 304
Rating: 5 Fire-breathing Stars! (too lame?)
Team: Oh gosh, oh gosh!! Don’t make me choooose!! Do I have to choose? Team Both Boys!! WOOP!
To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely-guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride knowing she might never see Will again—and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will’s memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.

Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family’s. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride’s heir apparent who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on—that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?~Goodreads

With danger, romance, and secrets on every page, Vanish is a fan-FREAKIN’-tastic sequel!

*Sighs* Guess what, my love for Will has slightly vanished! (baha! sorry I had to say it.) Seriously though, after reading Vanish I find myself rooting for a different boy.  *GASP!* Don’t get me wrong, Will is still this needy, adorably passionate boy that would do anything for Jacinda and just wants to save the day. And he still makes my heart do funny fluttery things!

But Cassian shows up in this installment a ton and HOLY DRAKI! He is one sexy, sexy beast! (literally!) :P

He’s cocky and assertive, yet totally charming and sweet! Plus he has this vulnerable side when it comes to the things he cares about. GAH! I LOVE him. If you like Ren from Nightshade by Andrea Cremer then you’ll LOVE Cassian! They’re so much alike it’s crazy. I swear to GOSH they are some how related. Long lost were-draki cousins...or something...

Need some more persuasion? I give you the following:
  • Cassian swoonage part ONE:
I hold my ground as his thumb grazes my cheek.
“What are you doing?” I whisper.
    “Touching you.”
The pads of his fingers slide across my jaw, over my bottom lip, so soft, coaxing and I know what he wants. I feel it in his touch. See it in the way his dark eyes devour me. He breathes my name. ~ARC p.139
SQUEEEEE! The angst! THE ANGST! There are NO. WORDS.
  • Cassian swoonage part TWO:
His hands slide down my arms to my hands, his fingers threading with mine...
His thumbs move in small circles of the backs of my hands. ~ARC p. 211
*SWOONS* *DROOLS* *DIES* I have this thing with boys and thumbs and when they move them in circles (too weird?) well, it’s actually QUITE ADORABLE. *DIES AGAIN* Tell me you don’t love this boy now!?!

Moving on to the girls! Jacinda, the main character, is still totally kick-ass and so down to earth. The whole pride looks down on her for leaving in the first place and now that she's back, they all treat her like dirt; but she puts on this strong front and acts like it doesn’t get to her. She’s just a fierce fire ball (get it? Ahaha!) of energy and I love her!! And her last line in the book? Forget about it! She is too cool for Draki school!

Tamra, Jace’s twin sister, is also back and she really grew on me in this one! She basically got awesome and became less of a snob! I loved reading her and Jace's scenes together because they aren't at such odds anymore. They really bond in Vanish and it was cute to see their sisterly interactions!
But I still don’t like their mom...sorry. She’s just too disapproving and unsupportive of Jace and that hurts my heart.

I can’t say too much more with out spoiling the story! But it’s an incredible sequel! There are tons of twists, revelations and plenty of kisses that will keep you on edge until the very last cliffhanger of a paragraph!

This series is one of my absolute favorites and BIG giant tears will be shed when it ends. If you haven’t picked up Firelight yet, I HIGHLY suggest you go do that!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!

P dot s- be prepared to be torn between Will and Cassian! SQUEEE! I loves them both! A LOT! But maybe probably slightly kinda Cassian just a tiny bit more!
