Movie Review Monday

I Kill Giants PosterHulu Find: The trailer for this one promises an epically unique tale of a girl who, you guessed it, kills giants. The storytelling is super solid, the camera work is stunning, and the acting is well done. The film delivers something entirely different than what the trailer suggestsbut overall, it was an impressive surprise!

The Kissing Booth PosterNetflix Find: So, I had seen some negative things about this movie on twitter but I decided to give it a chance anyway andI happened to love it!
Ok, yes, the acting isn't exactly Oscar worthy. And the storyline is cliche as heck. But! It plays out exactly like an adorable YA novel (which i think it was?) and y'all know I'm a sucker for an adorable YA. The friendship between Elle and Lee is one of the sweetest I've seen played out on screen! I'd definitely be interested in a sequel about these characters. Overall, it was a super cute, fun summer movie!

I, Tonya Poster
Hulu Find: This movie is freakin' spectacular. The acting is TOP-FREAKIN'-NOTCH. Morgot Robbie and Allison Janney are phenomenal in this! The storytelling is BRILLIANTone of the best documentary-esque movies I've seen. Why the heck did I not watch this sooner!? I, TONYA is a 2 hour movie that skates by so quickly (see what I did there?) and leaves you wanting more. Watch!

Set It Up Poster
Netflix Find: I wanted to love this one. The preview looked like something I'd totally enjoy, but, overall I wasn't impressed. I kind of love Zoey Deutch and she was the best thing about the movie. The other characters were meh at best and the story moved at a snails pace. Skip!

  1. Ooooh I Kill Giants looks like my kind of watch! I'm definitely looking that up. On the other hand, I tried The Kissing Booth and totally hated it. xD Just proves we all have different tastes, huh? Glad you enjoyed it, though! ♥

    1. I'll admit--Kissing Booth was a cheese-fest but sometimes those just hit the spot lol

I hope you like Giants if you watch!!

  2. I'm bummed about Set It Up. I love those kinds of movies.

I remember living through the Tonya/Nancy days so I'm not sure I would want to watch a movie on it.

But I Kill Giants sounds pretty awesome and I hadn't heard of the Kissing Booth.
