I. LOVE. Dystopians. But...Vampires. Bug. Me. SOOOOOOO...hopefully they balance out and come to equal pure awesomeness! I need a book that’s gunna make me love vamps again, and this might just be it! Also, the cover is gorgeous! Kinda reminds me a bit of the Fallen Series, but still beauteous nonetheless! :)This electrifying new trilogy blends the best of paranormal and dystopian storytelling in a world where the war is over. And the vampires won.
Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters...~Goodreads

Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon
Author: Leigh Fallon
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pages: 342
Rating: 4 Stars!
From the moment she sets foot at her new school in Ireland, Megan is inexplicably drawn to the darkly handsome Adam DeRis. But Megan soon discovers that her feelings for Adam are tied to a supernatural fate that was sealed long ago—and that the passion and power that unites them could be their ultimate destruction. The story starts off with Megan, the main character, unaware of her elemental power, creeped out by a crow that seems to follow her and distracted by cute boy. But as the story continues Megan slowly starts to realize what all these things mean. She’s a carrier of the mark. DUN DUN DUN....
This electrifying debut novel was first discovered on inkpop.com. the online community for aspiring writers. THE CARRIER OF THE MARK sizzles with unbridled romance, a unique supernatural hook, and a breathtaking Irish setting, and will entice fans of the Need series by Carrie Jones and the House of Night series by P. C. and Kristin Cast.~Goodreads
My favorite thing about this book was by far the setting! I loved that it took place in Ireland! The use of Irish lingo was awesome and honestly cracked me up! Snog= Kissing, Fringe= Bangs! SO ADORABLE!! “I think I’m going to go get a fringe!” C’mon, how cute is that term!? So. Cute.
Another thing that I loved was Leigh Fallon’s imagery! One of my favorite scenes was when Áine (Adam's sissy) was dancing around with a flutter of moths...guys. That scene was seriously so gorgeous and incredible, you should read the book just for that scene! Seriously. And I believe there was also a part in the book where wind was described as a "sensual caress,” Who knew wind could be so sexy!? :P
And speaking of sexy, we have quite a few boys in this book to swoon over! Especially Adam and Rían. I liked Adam just fine, he was protective, passionate and caring, yet he had some faults. (Anger issues perhaps?)
But oh my lord, I think I might just be Team Rían! (Is that even an option? I don’t know, but I loved him!) He’s extremely guarded and has this bad boy vibe that just screams hotness. Literally. He can control fire! HOW BAD ASS IS THAT?! He was also put in charge of training Megan and teaching her how to use her elemental power. I really wish there would have been more actual training scenes because, you caught me, I not so secretly want more Rían and Megan time! Also because training scenes are awesome!
And dudes, how cool is it that Megan’s mark tingles when she’s in danger? That’s sweet as eff! And let’s just say, she needs those tingles. Trust me when I say the plot of this story isn’t all moths and raindrops. What’s a story without some conflict, right?!
Oh! You thought I was going to tell you the conflicts? Nah, you gotta go pick up this steamy, suspenseful, fast-paced debut and find out for yourself! :)

*sings* Day and June, Day and June! I love, I love Day and June. Bug! Sorry, this book makes me weird. :P
Legend by Maire Lu
LEGEND (Legend #1)
Author: Marie Lu
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Pages: 306
Rating: 5 HUNDRED THOUSAND LEGENDARY STARS! No. Lie.
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.
From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.
Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.~Goodreads
One of my favorite things about LEGEND was the alternating POV between the two main characters, Day and June. (SQUEE! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH, OH MY GOSH, YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW!! Ehem...) The shift in the narration was written so fantastically well and they both had such unique voices. I felt like I got to know both Day and June a million times better than if only one of them were to narrate.
*swoons* Day, the love of my life, he is in fact a legend. Seriously, he’s the most wanted criminal in the Republic(and i use that phrase loosely because I think that Day just embarrasses the Republic. He can out smart them...and that pisses them off. ha!) He's a bad-ass with a huge heart. He cares SO much about his family and the lengths that he’ll go to in order to protect them is amazing. GAH! And his use of dialect...*thud* i melt when he says, "yeah?" ZEEEP! I want to marry this boy! But he might just have feelings for our heroine...
JUNEBUG!! She is so effin’ adorable yet completely kick-ass. How does she do it?! Oh, yeah, she’s a prodigy! And she has this incredible sharpness to her that makes her the perfect person to go after Day (my her future husband, hopefully!) Even after everything she's been put through, she's still this incredibly compassionate person, and i admire that so much. OOh, and let's not forget that she can totally dominate a Skiz fight like nobody's business! *sighs* I love her...I want to be her...too much? :P
And once you get her and Day together!! OH MY GOODESS! They are witty, flirty, kick-ass prodigy perfection! GAH! The wine scene?! *INSERT FAN-GIRLY SQUEAL HERE!*
It's so easy to forget that they're ONLY 15! They both carry such heavy burdens through-out the book and they have to deal with this harsh government, yet they handle themselves with complete and utter courage. They are the most astounding 15 year olds i've ever come across!
It's so easy to forget that they're ONLY 15! They both carry such heavy burdens through-out the book and they have to deal with this harsh government, yet they handle themselves with complete and utter courage. They are the most astounding 15 year olds i've ever come across!
GUYS! You don’t even understand (please go out and buy this book so you can understand...) I am obsessed with this book! And Day and June! And Batalla! And the Sectors! And holy crap this might just be one of the best dystopian novels I’ve ever read!
I really want to spill everything about the plot. Right. Now. And I really want you to know what happened to Metias and why Thomas is a douche and why I hate Commander Jameson so much and why I want to cry when I think about Ollie and how June becomes the most amazing person at the end of the book! But I can’t. Because yoooou, my wondrous reader, need to pick up this book and find out for yourself!
LEGEND is a phenomenal debut! It will blow your mind, break your heart and have you DYING for the next installment! A MUST! MUST! MUST READ! ♥

JUNE: That’s when I see a gesture which jolts my mind completely back into place: before he lies down to sleep, he grabs at something around his neck. It’s such an unconscious movement that I doubt he even realizes he did it. I stare at his neck but see nothing hanging around it. He had grabbed at the ghost of a necklace, the ghost of some trinket or thread. And that’s when I remember...
OH, SNAP! What does she remember!? AHH! One way to find out is to go pick up this INCREDIBLE debut right now because it’s out TODAY! Or you can come back tomorrow and enter for a chance to win a copy!! Either way, you REALLY need to read this book! Legend is easily my favorite book of 2011!

Waiting on Wednesday
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine! And this week i am waiting on:
O_O Umm, that synopsis has me speechless. It sounds crazily good. Like, what in the EFF is going to happen!? I can't wait to find out in January!
There are stories where the girl gets her prince, and they live happily ever after. (This is not one of those stories.)
Jenna Lord's first sixteen years were not exactly a fairytale. Her father is a controlling psycho and her mother is a drunk. She used to count on her older brother—until he shipped off to Afghanistan. And then, of course, there was the time she almost died in a fire.
There are stories where the monster gets the girl, and we all shed tears for his innocent victim. (This is not one of those stories either.)
Mitch Anderson is many things: A dedicated teacher and coach. A caring husband. A man with a certain...magnetism.
And there are stories where it's hard to be sure who's a prince and who's a monster, who is a victim and who should live happily ever after. (These are the most interesting stories of all.)
Drowning Instinct is a novel of pain, deception, desperation, and love against the odds—and the rules.~Goodreads

The Hunger Games Movie <--EEEEEEP
As some of you may know, The Hunger Games Trailer came out yesterday! HURRAH!! And I've watched it more than once. Okay, more than twice. Even more than THRICE times. And pretty sure it looks more epically amazing every single time. Ah, shucks- let's just all watch it together again shall we?!
So...after i watched it for the bajillionth time, i proceeded to squee and twirl and moonwalk naked--like always. ANNND i happened to tweet that i'm basically LOVING Lenny Kravitz as Cinna! Seriously, i'm already developing a crush. I think he'll totally do Cinna justice! So when my buddy Juli from The Reviews News sent me this THING to look at, i was flabbergasted.
Holy ballz, i was am MAD. AS. HELL. Are these people SERIOUS? Like, seriously serious?! If you didn't read the article, it's basically just a bunch of dumb-butts saying that Rue & Cinna don't look anything like how they pictured and, "OH. MY. GOD. They're black!" Dudes, seriously?! First of all, when it comes to casting not everyone is going to be pleased with the decisions. Everyone imagines someone different when they're reading, and there's absolutely NO way to make EVERYONE in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD happy! Trust me, Kristen Stewart was most definitely NOT the Bella Swan i imagined. But i freakin' LOVE those movies anyway!
Secondly- characters in books can, INDEED, be dark skinned. Not every character is Caucasian. *GASP!* In FACT, Rue IS dark skinned! But why does that even matter?! Who gives a crap!? That's not Rue's defining trait so why dwell on it? Same with Cinna. The descriptions of him in the books are really vague, so we I didn't grow to love him because of what he looked like. Cinna is passionate and caring and basically a fashion icon. :P THAT'S why i love him!
I guess all i'm trying to say is that Rue is effin' adorable and Cinna is amazing no matter what! So the next time someone makes a comment saying that, "they're black" i'm going to kick. some. ass. Because honestly, Cinna & Rue both look bomb as eff in the trailer and they'll probably end up being my favorite characters in the movie!

My wet hair has dampened the pillow, but I’m too tired to do anything about it. Gabriel mumbles something about it smelling like apricots. “This?” I say, using a piece of my wet hair to paint a watery circle on his bare shoulder. He makes a small noise, like the trickle of water has brought him some relief, so I draw some more wet-hair swirls on his arm, over the hill of his shoulder, across his throat. From where I lie behind him, I can just see the smile swelling his cheek. ~ARC 156
*Sighs* I love Gabriel and Rhine...SO much. Oh! And this book was pretty much AMAZING! You NEED to pick up Wither if you haven't, this is an incredible series!
