Kiltgasm Continued....

ZEEEEEEEEP! Zach made it to 5,000 VOTES!! I REPEAT FIVE THOUSAND VOTES! But that’s old news and now he’s already almost at 8500!!  So, yeah, Team Kilt is pretty much a force.  *pops collar* *brushes off shoulder* *swishes kilt*

And why I’m so INCREDIBLE, EXTREMELY, DELIGHTFULLY EXCITED about 5,000 votes is because of this!

Today is THE day! The Final round in the YA Crush Tourney! We shall have a winner *cough, Zachary, cough* by tomorrow morning!

Now, before I get into all the #TeamKilt mumbo-jumbo and why you should vote for Zach, I just gotta say, I can’t believe the YA Crush Tourney is going to be over! I won’t even know what to do with myself!! It’s been my life since early July!! NO. LIE. 

I’ve had so much fun, advocating, pimpin’, crying, squee-ing, laughing and voting during these past weeks! I just want to say a HUGE thank you to the girlies over at The YA Sisterhood for hosting the tourney! They did an AH-FREAKIN’-MAZING job and deserve MAD PROPS YO! I’m so glad I got to be apart of the whole PHENOMENON (truth, it really was.) I canNOT wait until the next tourney!

But this one isn’t over yet!!

Here’s a little motivational speech I just came up with on the spot…no help! :P

The Secret Year by Jennifer R. Hubbard was one of my favorite books last year. It was also one of the books that really got me hooked on YA in general! So I am super freakin’ excited to read her second YA novel that’s also written in male pov!(<--- male pov is my all-time favorite thing ever! GAH! I just love it!) Try Not to Breathe sounds amazing, looks amazing and I already know it will be amazing! I mean come on, it’s Jennifer R. Hubbard! <3

Okay, here goes nothin': 

So as some of you may know, I’ve been voting in the YA Crush Tourney,

Where some boys win and some boys lose and have to be taken away on a Gurney.

It’s supposed to be all fun and games!

(Then why the hell do I have chest pains?)

Anywho, last week I left Team Kilt and was pimping out Tod,

You know, because supporting Zachary made me feel like a fraud.

Team Kilt proved to be a force

And soon the round had run its course.

Oh boy, did Zachary just barely win,

Which caused me to cuss, which is surely a sin.

The point of this horrible rhyme is to say

Sorry to Amy and Jen for being an ass the other day!

I should of never of left you in your time of need

Especially since Zach was in the very last seed!

SoooOOOoooOO, obviously I don’t have mad skillz like Amy & Jen do when it comes to the whole poem thing, BUT I AM pretty dang good at pimpin’ out a fictional boy! And Wednesday, August 10^th, the last day of the YA Crush Tourney, the CHAMPIONSHIP, we shall all PIMP. ZACH. OUT..... HARD.

Yeah, sure, Jace is something special, but so is Zachary! I mean does Jace have a Scottish accent? I think not. Does Jace make out with girls in potato bins? I. think. not.  Cleary, Zach is way more *takes deep breath* awesome!

I said I would do a TT with Shattered Souls last week and never did…so I decided to do not ONE but TWO awesome teasers this week! This book was EFFIN’ fantastic and I had trouble picking just 2 lines/passages to share with you guys! Shattered Souls is funny and adorable and oh-so-angsty; and I think the teasers I picked show just that! Check 'em out:

Music Monday ♫

Ever since i saw The Civil Wars on VH1 a couple of weeks ago, i canNOT get their song Barton Hollow out of my head; it's seriously amazing! 

I've become slightly obsessed with them AND oh my goodness they did a cover of Billie Jean by Michael Jackson---> AUTOMATIC LOVE! 

Plus, i have a slight attraction to John Paul White, his voice is incredible. It has this folksie-country twang to it...GAH! i don't know how to explain it! Excepts it gives me the shivers!!

I’M actually not waiting but rather DYING for this book! Dying on Wednesday! <-- That has a catchy ring to it right!? No? Okay yeah, we’ll just let Jill over at Breaking the Spine keep the awesome-sauce original name for the meme! :P

After reading the EPICness that was the first chapter of Bloodrose, I am having heart palpitations over here waiting to read the rest of the book! I'm gonna CRY my eyes out and a part of my soul will die if Calla doesn’t end up with my babe Ren! <--- true story.

Thank goodness gracious I only have to wait like 7 more months! I can handle that! Be sure to pick up the final installment in the Nightshade series, February 2012!

This book was a roller coaster of emotions; so hilariously funny one second yet so heartbreakingly sad the next.  Cold Kiss is Wren’s touching story about loss, fixing her own mistakes and letting go.

The little things in this story are what made me connect to Wren the most! As soon as I read the following passage I KNEW I would love her:

“He’s making me nervous, which is making me angry, because he’s just a boy, a stupid new boy who doesn’t know anyone and is probably fascinated by something equally stupid, like my beat-up Chucks or the fading black heart Danny drew in Sharpie on the back of my left hand two days ago.”  ARC Pg 26

I don’t know, maybe because I draw on myself with Sharpie all the time, and get nervous/pissed when boys stare at me, it made her seem relatable and like...well, a teenager. She’s also very funny and sarcastic, and I love me a snarky protag! Wren is also INCREDIBLY STONG! She holds herself together on the outside amazingly well. Although she makes a HUGE mistake in the book, I feel like she’s a protagonist that readers can look up to. She’s extremely loyal and passionate and RESPONSIBLE!  She takes all the blame for what she does and she doesn’t want to drag anyone else down with her problems.

The mistake i'm talking about is Danny, her boyfriend she brings back from the dead. The Danny at the beginning of the story is cute (for being dead), sweet and just wants to spend time with Wren, he needs nothing else.

But as the story goes on Danny changes and that’s when he starts getting creepy. This Danny holds Wren a little too tight, his eyes are a little less friendly, and his skin is a little colder to the touch. This is also when Wren realizes the person she fell in love with is gone, he’s just a shell of who he used to be. It honestly made me scared for Wren to be alone with him.

And then, AND THEN, DANNY does this ONE thing and I was freakin’ the flip out!  My heart was pumping so fast I thought it would explode outta my chest. Talk about a scare.

--> insert paragraph about Gabriel being a helpful friend/love interest who is sweet and kinda funny, yet makes you feel wrong because Danny is still in the picture.

If you don’t find the first 25 chapters upsetting or if they don’t move you in the slightest, chapter 26 will getchya! It’s so poignantly written and the comparison to who Danny was as to who he is now, is without a doubt one of the saddest things i have ever read. This chapter, the last chapter, was heart-breaking and amazing and a bitter-sweet ending to an incredible book.

Cold Kiss isn’t morbid in the slightest, (which I thought it would be) it’s powerful and so much more than a "teenage love story." It's a magical (literally) story that shows the extent people would be willing to go to bring back the person they love. You should should totally add it to your TBR list! 


Favorite Quote that made my heart hurt really bad and had me crying like the over-emotional girl i am: 

“If I love him, the right thing to do is to let him go.  And hope that wherever he goes, he doesn’t remember that I didn’t love him enough to leave him in peace in the first place.”
