The Traitor's Kiss Blog Tour: INTERVIEW WITH SAGE +Giveaway

Welcome back to The Traitor's Kiss blog tour! Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you get to know Sage a little better after reading her interview! Be sure to scroll to the end for the secret message!

The Traitor's Kiss (Traitor's Trilogy, #1)

About the book

Title: The Traitor's Kiss
Author: Erin Beaty
Pub. Date: May 9th
Publisher: Imprint
An obstinate girl who will not be married.
A soldier desperate to prove himself.
A kingdom on the brink of war.

With a sharp tongue and an unruly temper, Sage Fowler is not what they’d call a lady―which is perfectly fine with her. Deemed unfit for marriage, Sage is apprenticed to a matchmaker and tasked with wrangling other young ladies to be married off for political alliances. She spies on the girls―and on the soldiers escorting them.

As the girls' military escort senses a political uprising, Sage is recruited by a handsome soldier to infiltrate the enemy ranks. The more she discovers as a spy, the less certain she becomes about whom to trust―and Sage becomes caught in a dangerous balancing act that will determine the fate of her kingdom.

Interview Time

Hi Sage! Thank you for talking with me. So, what do you enjoy most about the matchmaking process? (If anything, that is!)
Sage: I actually like figuring people out. If you can discover why people act the way they do, you get a better sense of how they will act in the future. I’ve also learned that what people want is not the same as what they need, and the former has to be handled delicately in order to make a match work. My experience is pretty limited – I’ve only apprenticed with the matchmaker about six months – but I’ve seen a couple matches come to fruition and watched each person blossom under it.
Sage, you know I HAVE to ask, how is it having all of those hunky military men around?
Sage: I envy them and their sense of purpose. They’re part of something so much bigger than themselves, and they don’t waste time on silly matters. They make history, not just read about it.

Wait. You’re asking about their looks and flirting? Um. They don’t really pay attention to us, though I love watching Jacqueline and her followers bat their eyes and sway their hips without getting a reaction.

As for “hunky,” they’re just men. The world is half full of them. Ash Carter is better than most, though, and he has that swarthy Aristelan look that stands out on this side of the mountains.

If you had to choose your code name, what would it be and why?
Sage: Just about everything I think of sounds either pretentious or obvious. Teacher? My friendship with Ash started with me teaching him to read (the how and why being way too long of a story to get into right now), so that seems appropriate. All the soldiers would probably know who it meant even if they weren’t told. Sounds kind of boring, though. I like birds – how about Sparrow? Small, unobtrusive, easily ignored, but all the while snatching up the crumbs you drop. Sparrow’s good.
If you were stranded in a foreign Kingdown, what 3 things would you hope to have with you?
Sage: My sling, a good knife, and a sewing kit to mend or adjust any clothes I had to steal or make into useful items.

QUICK ROUND!
 Relaxing Evening or Daytime Adventure?
Sage: Daytime Adventure, but I’m up for Evening Adventure, too. Not that kind – I’m not a harlot.

Sweet or Savory?

Sage: Savory.

Reading or Teaching?

Sage: Yes.
