WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE

In Deuce’s world, people earn the right to a name only if they survive their first fifteen years. By that point, each unnamed ‘brat’ has trained into one of three groups–Breeders, Builders, or Hunters, identifiable by the number of scars they bear on their arms. Deuce has wanted to be a Huntress for as long as she can remember.

As a Huntress, her purpose is clear—to brave the dangerous tunnels outside the enclave and bring back meat to feed the group while evading ferocious monsters known as Freaks. She’s worked toward this goal her whole life, and nothing’s going to stop her, not even a beautiful, brooding Hunter named Fade. When the mysterious boy becomes her partner, Deuce’s troubles are just beginning.

Down below, deviation from the rules is punished swiftly and harshly, and Fade doesn’t like following orders. At first she thinks he’s crazy, but as death stalks their sanctuary, and it becomes clear the elders don’t always know best, Deuce wonders if Fade might be telling the truth. Her partner confuses her; she’s never known a boy like him before, as prone to touching her gently as using his knives with feral grace.

As Deuce’s perception shifts, so does the balance in the constant battle for survival. The mindless Freaks, once considered a threat only due to their sheer numbers, show signs of cunning and strategy… but the elders refuse to heed any warnings. Despite imminent disaster, the enclave puts their faith in strictures and sacrifice instead. No matter how she tries, Deuce cannot stem the dark tide that carries her far from the only world she’s ever known.~Goodreads

THIS is why I freaking LOVE YA DYSTOPIANS!! Enclave was brutal and intense and scary and harsh and plain fantastic!

Deuce has got to be the fiercest female lead I have ever read about. But then again she was raised to be that way. Deuce is so strong, yet in her thoughts she has this vulnerability of thinking she’s not good enough and worrying she won’t live up to her huntress status & that just made her seem really genuine to me. The enclave she comes from just boggles my mind. Where there are breeders and hunters and everyone is assigned to a specific task for the rest of their lives. Deuce's task is to protect her enclave from freaks.

Then we have Fade, another hunter & Deuce's partner! Where do I even begin… Fade was just fabulous. Rugged and harsh on the outside but inside he just wants to be a protector, especially to the people he cares about.

Deuce and Fade’s partner ship was a match made in heaven. I feel like they balanced each other out in everyway. I’m not sure how to explain it, except I liked them together…. a lot! Seeing them grow to trust each other was honestly amazing! They would literally be fighting back to back, forming this strong connection that oozed right off the page! & the small intimate moments between them were almost overwhelming. There’s so much intense emotion behind all Deuce and Fades actions, that when they aim those emotions at each other: SPARKS!

Another character that really grew on me in the book was Stalker. The way in which we meet him isn’t a pleasant one but after a certain situation, he changes. He exposed his weaknesses and I admired him for that. Honestly totally not hatin’ on him at all.

But the ultimate scenes in this book are when Deuce and Fade are put against the Freaks.... it’s magic! The fights, oh my god the fights! I want to be a huntress, holy crap. Mrs. Aguirre sure knows how to write a brawl. Bloody and violently written but like so elegant you cant help to stop and think that the clashes are beautiful. <--- weirdo alert! Right?! But oh my goodness for real, this book is so vivid in its violence, like an in-your-face-guts-blood-disease-death way, that it’s simply awesome.

Then we come to the ending….the ENDING… in a way I was happy with it, but then again….not. I don’t know, it definitely leaves the story wide open & I canNOT wait for the sequel!!

I can’t put into words how bomb this book was! GO PICK IT UP!!

Kick ass quotes:
“If you were strong, you protected the weak until they had an opportunity to grow into their own power. “

“I admired Stalkers style. He was incredibly fast, using two small blades strapped to the backs of his hands. Slash, slash, slash. Fighting him, you wouldn’t die of one great wound, but instead bleed out slowly, surprised to find yourself weak and dying after a thousand cuts.”

What if the characters in a vampire novel left their world--and came into yours?

Amy is in love with someone who doesn't exist: Alexander Banks, the dashing hero in a popular series of vampire novels. Then one night, Amy meets a boy who bears an eerie resemblance to Alexander. In fact, he IS Alexander, who has escaped from the pages of the book and is in hot pursuit of a wicked vampire named Vigo. Together, Amy and Alexander set out to track Vigo and learn how and why Alexander crossed over. But when she and Alexander begin to fall for each other, Amy wonders if she even wants him to ever return to the realm of fiction.~Goodreads

Two words: Literary Physics! My mind was BLOWN! Holy crap, best idea in the history of ever! If you’re planning on skipping this book because it’s about Vampires, DON’T! If you read it for any reason, read it for the concept of literary physics, honestly you guys….. pure brilliance!

The storyline was face paced & thrilling, maybe a tad bit predictable, but enjoyable nonetheless. The characters are fantastic and it’s basically impossible NOT to relate with Amy. I mean come on, how many of us have fallen in love with a fictional character from one of our favorite books *raises hand high*  I for example have fallen in love with multiple! ;)

So, Alex is the main character from the Otherworld books that Amy & her friends read, and he’s on the ultimate quest for revenge. He’s dedicated his life to stalking a vampire named Vigo (for reasons I won’t spoil). And even before Alex jumps off the pages he’s pretty kick –butt. I mean he has a freakin’ scar on his tongue for goodness stakes (haha! Get it, stakes!?! like cuz when you hunt a vampire you use a stake?! Not funny?.....yeah, I didn’t think so either.)

Anyway, when he steps into present day Chicago he bumps into Amy…and the rest is history! If you want to find out what happens when Amy comes face to face with her fictional love in real life, read this book!!

It’s equal parts adorableness, funniness & suspenseness <--- totes not a word, but it fits nicely don’t you think!?

Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly

Angel Burn (Angel Trilogy, #1)
Angel Burn (Angel Trilogy #1)
Author: L.A. Weatherly
Publisher: Candlewick Press
Pages: 464
Rating: 5 Stars!
Angels are all around us: beautiful, awe-inspiring, irresistible.

Ordinary mortals yearn to catch a glimpse of one of these stunning beings and thousands flock to The Church of Angels to feel their healing touch.
But what if their potent magnetism isn't what it seems?
Willow knows she's different from other girls. And not just because she loves tinkering around with cars.
Willow has a gift. She can look into people's futures, know their dreams, their hopes and their regrets, just by touching them. But she has no idea where she gets this power from.

Until she meets Alex…
Alex is one of the few who know the truth about angels. He knows Willow's secret and is on a mission to stop her. The dark forces within Willow make her dangerous – and irresistible.&
In spite of himself, Alex finds he is falling in love with his sworn enemy. ~Goodreads

Look at that cover… it's so flippin' gorgeous! & HOLY SNAP the story is just as stunning! Angels, road trips, AND a hot boy, what’s not to LOVE!?

This book puts a whole new spin on angel lore, and it was so freakin’ fantastic/refreshing,  & not to mention a little creepy! In this world angels feed on human energies, making them weak and leaving them with...dun dun DUNN...angel burn. (hence the title! bomb right!?) DUDES you totes have to read this book in order to find out exactly what angel burn is...but it’s not good! When I read about it for the first time I literally got the goosies! So disturbingly awesome!

The story centers around Willow, who seems to be an ordinary teenage girl that likes to fix cars and has the unnatural talent to see the future. Little does she know, she’s FAR from ordinary and her “talent” is actually an angel trait.  She is the type of heroine I love to read about, strong, determined, loyal and not afraid to kick some ass when need be! Her character grows so much through out the book & as the story develops Willow finds out who & what she really is.

Cue Alex! Oh God, Alex...Alex Kylar...he is just a sexy angel killin’, fast drivin’, tatted up stud! GAH!  I LOVED him! He's an assassin & that means he is tough, and rugged, and a BAD BOY. Do I even have to continue? *swoons*  Oh, oh, oh! & he’s totally protective of Willow (which is so hot, right!?) It was absolutely ADORABLE how he fought his feelings towards her!  I thought that their relationship formed so naturally & it was just so angsty and wonderful!

The pages in this book just fly! (no pun intended!) There is TONS of action, I felt like I could barely catch my breath between all the craziness! I could not put Angel Burn down, i needed to find out what was going to happen with Alex and Willow! Then there is this whole big climactic intense ending & it totally does NOT turn out how you think it’s gunna turn out…so that made me mad but entirely happy at the same time, ya know?!

The ending left me pretty much speechless annnnnnd I am DYING for the second installment in this series! I NEED more Alex & Willow! I think I might have a new favorite trilogy!

SOMEBODY SLAP ME

So I’m in the middle of reading Passion by Lauren Kate & it’s really good so far! New characters, lots of time-traveling, lots of Luce & Daniel & LOTS of kissing! :)

Passion (Fallen, #3)

Die For Me by Amy Plum

Die for Me (Revenants, #1)

Die For Me (Revenants #1)
Author: Amy Plum
Publisher: HarperTeen
Pages: 352
Rating: 5 Stars!

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.

Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

In this incandescent debut, newcomer Amy Plum has created a powerful paranormal mythology with immortal revenants. The Paris setting comes enchantingly alive as a relentless struggle between good and evil takes place in its streets. Rich with romance, atmosphere, and thrills, Die for Me will leave readers breathlessly awaiting its sequel.~Goodreads

This is an ASTOUNDING book with a unique storyline, sexy romance,  breath-taking setting, and some heart-pounding action! It's definitely a MUST READ!

The characters in this book are so freakin’ amazing and loveable. The main character Kate is so down to earth and easy to relate too! You really get to see her grow as a character through-out the book, which I enjoyed a lot. Then there’s Vincent, ah Vincent, he is just….as sexy as they come! With his good looks, charm and accent I fell for him as quickly as Kate did.  Their relationship is nothing short of adorable and sweet!

The secondary characters bring so much to this story! I think they brought the book to a whole other level. I mean sure we all usually fall for a books MCs, but when the author can bring in more than two secondary characters and make them all unique, humorous and flawed, that’s something special! Jules and Charlotte were my two favorite revenants! Jules is cocky and artsy and never misses an opportunity to hit on Kate! I hope there is a TON more of him in the next one! Then there is Charlotte, who is so sweet and kind but has this vulnerable side & I couldn’t help wanting to just give her a hug! Being the only girl revenant in a house filled with all boys has GOT to be tough!! I really can’t wait to read more about THEM! And we can’t forget about the other revenants, Charles, Ambrose, Gaspard and Jean-Baptiste- they’re like a WAY more awesome and cooler version of The Cullens. New favorite “adoptive” family! :)

So, at this point you might be wondering what exactly a “Revenant” is. Well I would tell you, but I had fun finding out the details as I was reading this magnificent book, so I don’t wanna ruin the mystery and intrigue for you! All I can say is that they are BOMB! Sweet, sweet ass concept, kind of a take on “zombies-turned good-and-sexy!”

The other thing that really hooked and captivated me throughout the whole book was the setting! Amy Plum skips no details while describing the streets and little caf├ęs of Paris. All the descriptions and landmarks she mentioned made me feel as if I was there! Now I’m obsessing over going to Paris! Seriously the setting just made the book so much more magical!

All in all Die For Me was AMAZING!!! You should totally check it out if you’re looking for a new take on paranormal romance!
